What does the day of an Senior Management Accountant look like?
Job Profile:
The Senior Management Accountant will play a key role in strengthening financial reporting, balance sheet control and financial governance across the business. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for the integrity of monthly reporting and reconciliations, combined with the opportunity to act as a trusted finance partner to senior operational stakeholders.
The job holder will be technically strong, detail-driven and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multi-site environment, while also able to step back and support better decision-making through insight and challenge.
Key Responsibilities:
General
· Promote and ensure at all times the good reputation of Holmes Care Group.
· Ensure that all information of a confidential nature is not divulged to third parties.
· Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures at all times.
Health & Safety
· Adhere at all times to the Company H&S Policies.
· Report to the CFO or a Director any accident incurred by a visitor, staff member, self or others.
· Report any defective or faulty appliances which may lead to an incident or accident.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting & Month-End
Lead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts
Own the month-end close process, including journals, accruals and prepayments
Produce high-quality management reporting with clear commentary and variance analysis
Support budgeting, forecasting and cashflow reporting
Coaching junior members of finance team Produce weekly occupancy reports, including detailed commentary and analysis.
· Weekly production of a 13-week rolling cash flow forecast model.
Undertake ad-hoc tasks as required by the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Finance.
Balance Sheet & Financial Control
Full ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy and timely resolution of issues
Maintain and continuously improve balance sheet control schedules
Strengthen financial controls, processes and documentation
Support audit processes and act as a key contact for external auditors
Business Partnering
Partner with operational and non-finance stakeholders to explain financial performance and drivers
Provide insight on cost control, efficiency and financial risks
Support decision-making through scenario analysis and ad-hoc financial modelling
Conduct variance analysis of revenue drivers and key costs, such as payroll and agency spend.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement improvements to reporting, controls and finance processes
Support system, reporting and automation initiatives
Mentor and support junior members of the finance team where appropriate
Requirements:
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
· Newly Qualified or Part Qualified with experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.)
· Excellent Communicator with the confidence and ability to discuss financial data and insights with senior members of the business including the CEO / CFO is essential.
· Advanced Excel Skills - such as pivot tables, SUMIFs, and VLOOKUPs is essential.
· Experience in a multi-site environment, particularly within the hospitality or care sector, is desirable.
· Experience with Power BI Expertise (desirable).
· SQL Knowledge (desirable).
